Wills and Probate

Why Should You Make a Will?

Many people do not like to think about what will happen when they die but most people still want to make things as easy as possible for their loved ones. Making a will reduces the delays and confusion that can arise when someone dies without having made a will.

If you die without leaving a will your possessions will pass under the intestacy rules which may not make proper provision for your loved ones. By leaving a will you are ensuring that your wishes are followed after your death.

Making a will is a straightforward process. We offer a will drafting service and can provide you with sensible advice on the sort of provisions you may want to consider making. Our service is quick and efficient.

What will it cost you to make a will?

We charge £100 plus vat for a straightforward will and where a couple are making mutual wills we charge £150 plus vat. If your will is especially complex we may need to charge a higher price but will agree that with you at our first meeting. We can arrange home or hospital visits locally to draw your will for an additional fee of £50 plus VAT.

Probate services

We offer a full probate service and if you instruct us your case will de dealt with by David Johnston or Christopher Furbey who are both qualified solicitors. Your case will not be delegated to unqualified assistants. We appreciate that many of our probate clients are experiencing distress caused by bereavement and we offer a professional but supportive and sympathetic service.

You will have easy access to your solicitor who you will be able to contact by email or direct dial telephone. We will progress your case quickly and efficiently.

At our first meeting we will discuss the likely fees and will provide you with a written costs estimate.

Other services

We also have considerable expertise of dealing with claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. Contact us for advice if you believe that inadequate financial provision has been made for you following the death of a family member or a person on whom you were dependant.
